One Acre of Jungle on the Sittee River Hopkins

One of the lushest regions along the coast of Belize is the community of Sittee river. This deep, winding river snakes down from the mountains and deposits fertile alluvial soil on its banks making this an ideal farming location and supports beautiful, thick, broad leaf jungle which in turn supports countless birds and wild life. This 1.1 acre parcel has 77 feet of road frontage on the main road which provides electricity. Nearly 600 feet south runs the property line to over 110 feet of Sittee River frontage. The river can accommodate small to medium sized boats that are protected from the sea and only a 10 minute journey to the Caribbean sea and all the wonders it has to offer including hundreds of tiny coral based islands, the nearest a short 15 minute voyage away.

Natural wonders aside, Sittee river is very central and adjacent to 2 of the most popular tourist centres in Southern Belize. A 10 minute drive south on the Southern Highway is Santa Cruz which is the junction for Placencia, a 16 mile (30km) peninsula and Belize’s second largest tourism centre. Placencia is also a traditional fishing village originally populated by pirates that were granted land by the Queen and whose descendants are the local families who own and run tourism businesses such as hotels, restaurants and many tours to the islands such as diving, snorkelling and fishing.

If one looks to the east from anywhere in Sittee river you cannot miss the Maya mountains – home to arguably the finest jungle in Belize. The worlds only Jaguar reserve is minutes away and home to hundreds of Jaguars and other animals.  This region is also well know among  birders who enjoy sightings of hundreds of species of birds such as Scarlett Macaws and Toucans.
